The near perfect weather on the Sunshine Coast makes for an extremely hospitable environment in which to host major outdoor events year-round. You’ll find a colourful assortment of festivals and markets dedicated to food, music and shopping running throughout the year. Then there are some brilliant annual events like the Caloundra Music Festival and its supporting Fringe Festival which runs over 10 days and features both local and national musical talent. The Gympie Music Muster held in August hosts an impressive line-up of country and contemporary music. The Maleny Wood Expo in May, World Environment Day Festival in June and the Queensland Garden Expo in July reveal the Sunshine Coast’s green side, with a blend of education, music, botany, and eco-friendly products and innovations.
Foodies won’t want to miss out on the Noosa International Food and Wine Festival or the Maleny Real Food Festival, both with wonderful tasting opportunities and the chance to meet and learn from celebrity chefs. Major cultural events include Cooroy’s Reality Bites Festival, the only non-fiction writer’s event in Australia, the Noosa Longweekend, and Festuri, a celebration of Australia’s multicultural community held at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Sporting events include two of the biggest in Australia — the Mooloolaba Triathlon in March and the Noosa Triathlon in October attracting world-class athletes and large crowds to watch the action. There are also major surfing events throughout the year.

Say the word ‘chocolate’ and you have my attention. Located at Yandina, the chocolate workshops at Nutworks are very hands on… finger lickingly so.
